Five-Year Goals

Goal 1: Relationships

To create and develop positive relationships within the district and community to ensure student success and safety.

Positive relationships include reciprocal communication among students, teachers, parents, administrators, school board, the community, employee associations, the business community, local and state service and government agencies, and the Oregon Legislature.

Indicators of Success:
Self Evaluation Goal Setting Action Planning
The district will evaluate the degree to which relationships among key constituents have an impact on student success and safety. Evaluation will include current data on practices and results. Using evaluation information, the district will set targets for strengthening a variety of relationships. Priorities will be established based on those relationships determined to have a significant effect on student achievement and safe educational environments. Action plans will be designed and implemented based on relationship targets established through goal setting. Relationship action plans will identify the resources, processes and accountability measures required to ensure improved student success and safety.

Goal 2: Resources

To manage district resources to support the district's vision and mission.

This goal includes the notion of where resources are coming from and where resources are going, and adequacy of resources. Resources related to this goal are grants, staff, volunteers, facilities, technology, community partners, instructional materials, state and local funding sources, and resources related to safety.

Indicators of Success:
Self Evaluation Goal Setting Action Planning
The district will evaluate its current use of resources, financial status, long-range maintenance plan, and use of local efficiencies to determine congruence with the district vision and mission. Specifically, evaluation will focus on student success and safety. Using evaluation information, the district will align the allocation of resources with district priorities for students. Priorities include programs, projects, staff and systems that support students' high academic achievement and safe educational environments. Action plans for this goal area will include resource acquisition, policy development, technology to support student learning, employee recruitment and retainment, long-range financial planning and use of local efficiencies.

Goal 3: Rigorous Academic Programs

To provide rigorous programs to ensure high academic achievement for each student.

Topics related to this goal include programs and strategies appropriate for each student, staff development related to student achievement and organizational effectiveness, clear high academic targets, appropriate testing and assessment, data collection and management systems, safety and character education, and communication.

Indicators of Success:
Self Evaluation Goal Setting Action Planning
The district will collect current data on programs that impact student achievement and safety to determine areas of strength and weakness. Assessment will include a review of resources allocated to programs. Priority targets will be established based on self-evaluation data, budget and resource support, and the district's ability to maintain processes and support systems. The long-range academic target for students is 90% of all 10th graders meeting CIM standards in reading and math. Action plans will match desired outcomes to a realistic scope of activities based on available data. Resources will be targeted to student achievement of academic standards and safety. Rigorous programs will focus on helping students earn the CIM, providing remediation for those who don't, and decreasing the student drop-out rate.
